Korean Ambassy and Minjustice: Partnership in the Offing

The Korean Embassy and the Ministry of Justice are accelerating toward a developmental partnership expected to begin this year. On Thursday 6 October 2022 in the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Justice, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Justice, Jean De Dieu MOMO, and the Country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency – KOICA, LEE GYUHONG, held talks aimed at establishing cooperation ties between the Korean Embassy in Cameroon and the Ministry of Justice.

Cooperation has been envisaged in areas such as infrastructure, capacity building and judicial service.

“We have a vast judicial landscape: Courts of Appeal, High Courts, Courts of First Instance, Administrative Courts etc., which all need accommodating spaces. Our prisons need to be improved upon,” Minister Jean De Dieu MOMO pointed out.

“I understand clearly your priority…I will like to keep exchanging with your colleagues. We have different capacity-building projects like e-justice,” Country Director of KOICA, LEE GYUHONG, said.

The Minister Delegate reiterated government’s admiration for what the Republic of Korea has been doing in Cameroon, the emerging fruits of its partnership with other ministries.

To start with, under KOICA’s Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow – CIAT Programme, a country specific training for personnel of MINJUSTICE will be organised soon.

Thursday’s audience was a follow-up to preliminary partnership talks held between the Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals, Laurent ESSO and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cameroon, JONGHAN KIM, on 6 September 2022.
